About Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana

Resting in an exclusive private estate and hidden among the lush undulating hills of Bali’s culture-rich highlands, Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana, introduces a tranquil world of 24 self-contained villas and suites spread across a rural landscape of six-hectare gardens and beautiful rice fields.  Moored among the rice paddies on the fringes of the artists’ village of Ubud, Tanah Gajah was conceived by Hendra Hadiprana, a legendary Indonesian architect and designer, during his honeymoon in the 1960s. On discovering the breathtaking six-hectare plot set amid peaceful rice paddy fields in the heart of the rural landscape, he fell in love with it and resolved to create a sanctuary there for his family. This vision led to the first iteration of Tanah Gajah in the 1980s, based on Hadiprana’s deep passion for art and Indonesian heritage that seamlessly blends traditional Balinese elements with contemporary aesthetics. The Resort’s dining options includes The Tempayan, an open-air Balinese-inspired haven with rice paddy views, serving Balinese and Western cuisine. The Panen Padi Lounge, once the Hadiprana family’s private residence, now offers elevated afternoon tea amid lush gardens and a serene swan pond. Bespoke facilities at the resort also includes The Spa, Yoga Pavilions and The Health Club, The Amphitheatre.

Tanah Gajah offers its signature The Art Of service, curating immersive experiences for guests. From The Art of Cooking with Chef Dean to The Art of Flying, showcasing breathtaking views of rice paddies and Mount Agung, or The Art of Purification, featuring sacred Balinese cleansing rituals — each itinerary is designed for guests to be immersed in remarkable moments.
