From 2 - 8 April 2025, Amilla Maldives will once again team up with legendary former England and Manchester United footballer, Teddy Sheringham, to offer younger guests the chance to train with one of the greatest players of his generation at an exclusive Football Academy designed to nurture young sporting talent and creating an unforgettable sporting week of camaraderie.
With a professional career spanning nearly 25 years, including a trophy-laden period at Manchester United and 51 caps for the England national team, Sheringham will help inspire younger guests and the next generation of footballers with a series of coaching sessions.
Commencing with an opening ceremony on 2 April, the week-long academy will see children aged four and above polish their footballing skills, including the goalscoring and playmaking abilities for which Sheringham was renowned. The experience culminates on 7 April with a friendly match between guests and the Amilla team, bringing everyone together to showcase their skills in a friendly game alongside a memorable medal presentation ceremony to honour participants’ achievements.
“We are delighted to welcome Teddy back to Amilla Maldives,” said Narelle McDougall, General Manager. “His passion and commitment to inspire young players always makes this a truly special event.”
Beyond the Football Academy, younger guests can enjoy The Sultan’s Village kids club, which has plenty to entertain curious little ones, while activities from with kombucha-making, painting, and DJ classes ensure there is plenty to do for guests besides snorkelling and diving at world-class sites including Hanifaru Bay and the resort’s own famous Blue Hole.
